Maryam Rofougaran is co-founder and co-CEO of Movandi Corporation, a venture-backed startup that is reinventing multi-gigabit, millimeter wave networks with innovative RF front-end technology for new applications such as 5G. Prior to Movandi, Maryam Rofougaran was a senior VP of Radio Engineering at Broadcom Corporation. She joined Broadcom in 2000 after the company she co-founded, Innovent Systems, was acquired by Broadcom.   At Broadcom Maryam led a team of more than 300 engineers worldwide who developed wireless radios for a variety of combo chip technologies, including Bluetooth, WLAN, GPS, NFC and cellular devices. Stan Rowe, Chief Scientific Officer & Corporate Vice President, Edwards Lifesciences

Stanton J. Rowe has been chief scientific officer since 2008 and also serves as corporate vice president, advanced technology. He joined the company in 2004 when Edwards acquired Percutaneous Valve Technologies, a company he helped to found in 1999 and of which he served as president and CEO. Previously, Rowe was corporate vice president of business development and strategic planning for Datascope and was vice president of business development for Johnson & Johnson's interventional systems division (JJIS) in Warren, New Jersey, responsible for the company's coronary stent development efforts. At JJIS and the related Cordis Corporation, Rowe held a variety of positions with increasing levels of responsibility, including heading the company's business development, advanced technology, worldwide clinical research and marketing groups. Rowe joined Cordis after previously holding several positions in product management for a number of medical device companies. He is on the board of directors of both InSeal Medical, Ltd. and NeuralAnalytics. JC graduated from Chapman University Argyros School of Business in 2011 with a business administration degree with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship and Economics. Since his graduation he co-founded a small startup (Double Splash Media), which was involved with email marketing. After Double Splash Media, JC worked for LKQ, a large corporation that is the world’s largest supplier of automotive replacement parts, as a buyer and general manager.

Gerald R. Solomon has served as the Samueli Foundation’s Executive Director since April, 2008. Prior to the Samueli Foundation, he served as CEO of Public Health Foundation Enterprises (PHFE) for seven years where he transformed the organization from an LA-centric provider of funding and services into national prominence operating in 31 states with 1,500 employees.

 

Constance Steinkeuhler, Professor- Department of Informatics, UC Irvine

Constance Steinkuehler is a Professor of Informatics at the University of California, Irvine where she researches the cognitive, intellectual, and social aspects of esports and multiplayer online videogames. Current projects include esports analytics and survey research, methods for assessing online social interaction, design and evaluation of an academically enriched high school esports league and complementary high school curriculum in STEM and English Language Arts, games for second language acquisition, and a book for parents of gamer kids. She serves on multiple advisory and editorial boards and chairs the Esports Conference at UCI.

Richard Sudek, Executive Director, UCI Applied Innovation

Richard is a Chairman of Tech Coast Angels and the Director for UCI Applied Innovation. Formerly, he was the Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University. He received his Ph.D. in Management from Claremont Graduate University (CGU). Dr. Sudek’s primary research interests are in the area of entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurial leadership, and team leadership. Dr. Sudek has taught at INSEAD in France, the Rotterdam School of Management in Holland, and at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management of CGU. In addition, he currently consults extensively with startup companies on matters related to strategy, financing, operations, and executive coaching. Currently an active angel investor (venture capital) with over 20 investments in startup companies, Mr. Sudek sits on the Tech Coast Angels board.

Bei has extensive M&A/investment experience through working in corporate development, venture capital, private equity, and private debt. Currently, she manages global M&A activity for Ingram Micro, a fortune 100 technology firm with $47 billion in revenues. Previously, she helped to launch the global technology investment fund for KPMG from the ground up, and completed over $2 billion of transactions at LAMB Partners and Northwestern Mutual Capital, after starting her career at Lehman Brothers.

 

Paul Ward, Founder & Former CEO, eSports Arena

Paul Ward served as a Captain in the US Army as an Intelligence officer before founding Esports Arena. As Esports Arena's CEO the company hosted over 650 events, more than any other company in the industry. He grew the company to over 60 employees, expanded the Esports Arena property network to 100,000 sq.ft., and completed a Series C funding where he exited. He has now started Stage 2 Ventures which is currently raising a funding round focused on the future of esports and the gaming industry.

Dean Gregory N. Washington, Ph.D., joined The Samueli School of Engineering in August 2011. Under his leadership, the school has increased its faculty ranks and numbers of students. He instituted a popular freshman experiential learning program that gives engineering students a taste of real-world product development. He also secured a $9.5 million gift in support of the school's efforts to engage a more diverse student population through STEM outreach.

Jeffry Weinhuff, Managing Partner, Visionary Venture Fund

Jeffry Weinhuff is currently the managing partner of Visionary Venture Fund and has been active in the institutional investment realm for over 30 years. He was first involved in private equity and M&A as the sixth professional to join the West Coast Investment Banking Group at Drexel Burnham Lambert, where the practice of private equity acquisitions developed and became institutionalized. At Drexel, Mr. Weinhuff advised and worked with many first-tier private equity firms, served as a long-term member of the Underwriting Assistance Committee and was co-Founder of the firm’s Buyers Advisory Group. As the Founder and Co-Head head of Investment Banking at Jefferies & Co, he created a major full-service independent investment bank from inception to full development, including developing its Healthcare practice. At Jefferies he served for many years as head of the Commitment Committee and member of the Board of Directors, as well as operated a private merchant bank for many years.

 

Nariman Yousefi, Senior Vice President, Coherent DSP

Nariman Yousefi serves as Inphi’s Senior Vice President, Coherent DSP. He joined Inphi after the company acquired ClariPhy in December 2016. At ClariPhy, Mr. Yousefi was the company’s Chief Executive Officer and President. Prior to ClariPhy, he was a founding member and senior executive at Broadcom Corporation Networking group, where he was instrumental in establishing Broadcom as the leading supplier of Ethernet ICs. While at Broadcom, he held multiple executive roles including Senior VP and General Manager of the Enterprise Networking Group and Senior VP of Infrastructure Technologies. Prior to joining Broadcom, Mr. Yousefi held engineering management positions with Standard Microsystems and Western Digital Corporation. Mr. Yousefi studied electrical engineering at the University of California, Davis and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pacific and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
